Building on the observation that discourse on science fiction revolves predominantly around film and literature while the strong tendency in contemporary art to engage with this genre remains underexplored, this event aims to examine and shed light on some of the varying ways in which artists use SF elements today. It thereby investigates how artists make worlds, what they seek in doing so, and how this becomes relevant as “a means through which to preprogram the present” (William Gibson).
